ABOUT

Lina Lev is a multidisciplinary artist working across dance, performance, and choreography, with a passion for Fine Arts, Literature, Poetry, Film, Photography, Singing, and other forms of creative expression.

As a modern freelance nomad, she has lived since 2011 in Hamburg, Berlin, Heidelberg (DE), São Martinho das Amoreiras (PT), Tel Aviv (IL), before returning in 2024 to her hometown of Vienna. She still often moves between the open landscapes of Alentejo (PT), where she hosts retreats, and metropolitan theatre venues in Austria and Germany. Her lifestyle reflects a continuous search for integrity in vocation, nature, community, and artistic expression.

In 2008, Lina Lev completed a BA in International Development, with a minor in Theater, Film, and Media Studies, and became engaged as an activist for human rights and sustainable ways of living. She continued her educational path with a BA in Dance Theater, a MA in Dance Therapy, and completed a Teacher Training for Somatic Dance, Authentic Movement, and Contact Improvisation at the Holistic Dance Institute, mentored by Sabine Parzer. Additionally, she completed a Teacher Training for Kundalini Yoga and enriched her experiences by journeys to India, Mexico, Israel, USA, Guatemala, and various parts of Europe. Since 2013, Lina Lev has participated in numerous workshops, festivals and retreats around the world, exploring different approaches to dance, the body, and spirit, while deepening her own practice through teaching and contemplation.

Lina Lev has collaborated with artists such as Cie. Willi Dorner, Deichkind, Patricia C. Mai, Katia Reshetnikova, Max Makowski and Anna-Kristine Linke in Vienna, Berlin, Hamburg, Hanover, Bremen, Hellerau, Cologne, Heidelberg, and Tel Aviv. As part of the female ensemble Kollektiva., Lina Lev contributed as a dancer, outside eye, and producer, performing at various festivals and participating in residencies across Europe. Her own works, (OP)POSING BODIES and FEMALE BODIES, premiered at Kurpfälzisches Museum Heidelberg in 2022.

Her institutional partnerships — as festival coordinator or movement facilitator — include Deutsches Schauspielhaus Hamburg, ImPulsTanz, Tanz im August, Theater der Welt, Open Spaces, Tanzbiennale, Heidelberger Stückemarkt, Tanz! Heilbronn, and SEAD – Salzburg Experimental Academy of Dance.

Recently, she began writing her first book, which is still a work in progress. Her poem "Funkeln im Dunkeln" was published in KKl Kunst Kultur Literatur Magazin and recognized at the 10th Bubenreuther Literature Competition.

Along the way, Lina Lev (co-)created solo and group pieces and (co-)founded a dance ensemble and an art collective. She has frequently worked on Dance and Theater projects with children from diverse cultural backgrounds, reflecting her own multicultural roots and aiming to encourage them to discover their own path and voice in the world. This engagement offers her a meaningful balance between social contribution and creativity.

All of Lina Lev’s artistic research stems from a deep curiosity and a quest for honesty — or some kind of truth. Her work centers on universal questions about life, guided by the desire to build bridges between people and ideas. She is driven by a commitment to fostering understanding, empathy, and a collective pursuit of freedom and peace — while also embracing the simple act of seeing things from a different perspective. Beyond her passion for detail and her charming nerdiness, art for her represents a union of urgency, emotion, intuition, and presence. It creates a space for exploration, connection, and reflection — one that, in itself, inspires transformation.
