About
Lina Lev is a Vienna based artist, somatic practitioner, and cultural manager whose work across dance, performance and choreography is grounded in a dedicated practice of contemplation and somatic inquiry.
As a modern freelance nomad, she lived and worked in Hamburg, Berlin, Heidelberg, São Martinho das Amoreiras, and Tel Aviv, before returning to her hometown in 2024 after 13 years abroad. Her lifestyle reflects a continuous search for integrity across vocation, nature, and community. While having re-established her base in Vienna, she continues to move fluidly between the serene landscapes of Alentejo (PT), where she hosts retreats, and dynamic metropolitan venues of Austria and Germany.
Starting with her studies in International Development in 2008, Lina Lev became active in various NGOs focused on human rights and sustainable, common wealth-oriented ways of living. Her passion for art and the body led her to a BA in Dance Theatre and an MA in Dance Therapy, as well as an in-depth study of Somatic Dance and Contact Improvisation with Sabine Parzer at the Institute for Holistic Dance. As a certified Kundalini Yoga teacher, she expanded her horizons through travels in India, Mexico, Israel, Guatemala, and the USA. During these years, she immersed herself in alternative ways of living beyond the norm and participated in hundreds of masterclasses, workshops, and retreats with outstanding international teachers in dance, yoga, contemplation and self-inquiry —gaining profound insights she now shares through her own workshops and retreats.
Lina Levs broad repertoire informs her work in production and cultural management, shaping a form of organization that goes far beyond mere logistics. With a holistic lens and a grounded presence, she transforms complex requirements into fluid processes - enriching
institutions such as Deutsches Schauspielhaus Hamburg, Thalia Theatre, Theatre und Orchester Heidelberg, Theatre Heilbronn and SEAD – Salzburg Experimental Academy of Dance. Her impact has also shaped formats including ImPulsTanz, Heidelberger Stückemarkt, Tanz! Heilbronn, Tanz im August, Theater der Welt, StadtLesen and Tanzbiennale.

Throughout her artistic and professional journey, Lina Lev has cultivated a vast network within the international dance and performance scene. In close collaboration with a diverse range of artists and collectives—including Patricia C. Mai, Deichkind, Cie. Willi Dorner, Katia Reshetnikova, Max Makowski, Anna K. Nemeth, and Anna-Kristine Linke—she has realized multifaceted projects at the intersection of dance and performance.
As a co-founder of a dance and arts collective, she has also developed various solo and group works. Within the independent ensemble Kollektiva., she took on fluid roles as a dancer, choreographer, and outside eye, as well as production lead and company manager.
Her commitment also extends to facilitating dance and theatre projects for children and young people of different ages and cultural backgrounds. Drawing from her own multicultural roots, she seeks to empower them to find their own path and expression. This work allows her to foster an inspiring balance between social engagement, structural organization, and artistic depth.
Artistic Statement
All of my research stems from a deep curiosity and an earnest search for honesty. My work centers on universal questions about life, guided by the desire to build bridges between people, ideas, and the unseen threads that connect us. I am driven by a commitment to empathy and a collective pursuit of freedom — while embracing the simple, radical effort required to invite these ideals into our daily reality.
In my practice, the body becomes both a living laboratory and a vessel; an infinite space where the noise of the mind can be dropped to listen to the innate intelligence of our own muscles and bones. By grounding ourselves in this somatic presence and trusting the silence within, we begin to move from a place of deep authenticity.
Ultimately, art represents for me a vital union of urgency, emotion, and intuition. It creates a sanctuary for exploration, connection, and reflection — a space that, in its very existence, inspires transformation.
